'When my previous job in management was made redundant in March 2007, I decided not to get another job, with the constraints that inevitably come with having an employer, but to concentrate on my business which I had previously been doing alongside my full-time job. The "risk", I realised, was having the courage to do something new. I wanted flexibility to work around other activities I now want to start doing. I have worked long and hard all my working life and need to get more of a balance. I also want to top up my pension but at the same time not have to work until I am 65, or probably longer now that the Government are considering raising the retirement age to 70. When I was introduced to this business, I immediatey saw this as an opportunity to change my life to give me the freedom to choose my own hours and my own income; in other words to earn what I was worth and deserved.
